What is the 3 Circles?

The Three Circles is an effective and simple way of presenting the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ, with people who do not know Christ and what He has done for us.

The 3 Circles is more than a simple gospel presentation, it...

NOTE: Though there may be a few differences in the terms of some the parts of the Three Circles in these videos, I do recommend the terms used in the diagram above. In particular, the term "Grow" denotes a process. With the description of what it means to be a disciple of Christ (following Jesus, being changed by Jesus and joining in Jesus' mission) , "Grow" captures that this movement back to God's Design is a process and not a one-time, instantaneous thing. In a true sense we do have immediate and full access to God and His resources as soon as we enter into this relationship with Jesus, and yet in another sense, we are in the process of letting go of our old sins and habits (that lead us away from God's design), renewing our mind, and learning to trust in Jesus Christ for all of life. This process of transformation takes time and it takes work - a lifetime in fact, to be completed when we see Jesus face to face in the coming age - but all of it is covered in the grace of God and the empowerment of Holy Spirit, through our allegiance to Jesus Christ. It begins when we make Jesus King of our life, and immediately we are restored into relationship with Father God once again. It continues as we gradually surrender every area of our life to Jesus (in practice, not just in theory), and allow His Word (The Bible) and Holy Spirit to guide us. We are in the process of being transformed and restored to the abundant life God has for us, and that change is an inner transformation so that we can fully partake of what we have been fully given when we first accepted Him as our King and became part of God's family.

To clarify these points a little more:

It is like an orphan being adopted into a family. From the get go, those new parents have counted the cost, in fact they already have invested large sums of money to adopt this child. These parents might already be thinking about setting money aside for that young child's future education. They are totally invested in this new child of theirs and are willing to forgo much, while loving unconditionally without needing to receive the same quality of love back from the adopted child. They hope some day they will experience great love back but they also know there's no 100% assurance of that.

The adopted child, on the other hand, likely has had attachment issues from birth and will therefore take much time to fully trust, love and appreciate the loving parents he/she has at the moment of adoption. But the reality is, that child, with his/her trust issues, already has full access to fully committed, fully loving parents, and to all the resources of those parents for life.  These accessible resources are all there but the lack of trust from the adopted child will take time for him/her to truly enjoy the blessings that are his/her from the get go. We believers who have entered into a relationship with Christ are exactly the same way. We need time, consistency of love and truth to counteract our distorted perceptions of what is, and much more to fully accept and live out of the blessings we have been given in Christ. All of us, from the most mature to the most immature believer, take a lifetime (at least in some aspects of our faith) to fully trust and to fully lean on Christ for all of life.

Why did I say all of this?

In my gospel presentation, I don't want to present a misleading narrative that everything will be perfect as soon as I trust in Jesus. Not true. Both the life God calls us to live, which is contrary to the ways of the world and to Satan (i.e.: expect opposition from the outside), and our own brokenness and tendencies towards distrust (i.e.: expect opposition from the inside self), will take time for us to understand at some basic level, and even more time to truly depend on Christ as He so desires and knows is best for us.  We will need to grow, though we have the grace of God and the leadership of Holy Spirit to help us as promised by Christ, in order to come to experience what it means to live the abundant life we have been given in Christ.
