Heart

SAMPLE PRAYER: Lord, we thank you for the saving work you have done for us on the cross, and the supernatural grace you have imparted to us through saving faith in Christ. You are bringing transformation in our hearts and lives. May our hearts continually be flooded with Your light so we can understand more and more the confident hope You have given us.

  • "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." - Ezekiel 36:26 ESV

  • "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God... For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." - Colossians 3:1,3 NIV

Mind

SAMPLE PRAYER: Lord, make us passionate for Your Word. Help us hear, read, study, memorize and meditate on Your Word on a daily basis. Completely reshape the way we think to the way You think. May the Biblical worldview become our worldview. May we also approach the Bible with a pre-commitment to believe, understand, and obey everything it teaches.

  • "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." - Colossians 3:2-3 NIV

Affections

SAMPLE PRAYER: Lord, help us to daily crucify the desires of the flesh as we bear the fruit of the Spirit. May we grow to love what You love, value what You value, desire what You desire, and hate what You hate. May our affections be set on the things of God, and may those affections grow to supersede the attractions of sin and the things of this world. Help us grow to obey You out of desire, delight, and satisfaction in You, not simply out of duty.

  • "For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus." - Philippians 1:8 ESV

  • "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." - Colossians 3:17 NIV

  • "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age." - Titus 2:11-12 NIV

  • "So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified." - 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 NLT

  • "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry." - James 1:19 NIV

  • "For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." - Philippians 2:13 ESV

Will

SAMPLE PRAYER: Lord, may we be disciples who are humbly obedient, doing what Jesus commands. May we experience the joy of active submission to Your Word, and conform our ways to Your will.

  • "1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:1-2

  • "5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

  • "3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!" - Philippians 2:3-8 NIV

Relationships

SAMPLE PRAYER: Lord, as disciples of Jesus Christ, may we love one another as Christ has loved us and may we love our neighbors as we love ourselves, forgiving one another freely and serving one another selflessly. May this love express itself practically in forgiveness and service, even to our enemies. May our hearts be open to those in our church, our families, the global body of Christ, the lost, and the poor.

  • “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:34-35 NIV

  • "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." - Ephesians 4:32 ESV

  • "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony." - Colossians 3:12-14 ESV

Purpose

SAMPLE PRAYER: May we become disciples of Jesus who share the gospel, reproduce the life of Christ as we disciple other believers, and serve the world for Christ by praying for, giving to, and going out to spread this gospel to all peoples.

  • "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." - Matthew 24:14 ESV

  • "19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

  • "11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love." - Ephesians 4:11-16
