Forgiveness Prayer

an inner healing tool

learn more about: Forgiveness

Prior to this prayer, you have either become conscious of a person you need to forgive or you proactively step into a prayer for God to reveal if there's anyone you need to forgive. Trust that God can reveal this. This prayer can be prayed over a person you need to forgive (he/him or she/her), or can be modified for a group of people you may need to forgive (they/them).

NO PROPHETIC REVELATION NEEDED: This tool does NOT require prophetic revelation on the part of the recipient.

Prayer of Forgiveness

Jesus, I choose to forgive _________________ (name the person)  for _________________ (what happened - be specific)  and for the hurt and pain he/she created _________________ (describe the hurt and pain caused - be specific)

I forgive _________________ (name the person)  for everything he/she did to me and everything he/she did not do for me. I forgive him/her for everything he/she said to me and everything he/she did not say to me that I needed to hear.

I release _________________ (name the person)  to You and I remove myself from the judgment seat and release all justice and restoration to You, Lord Jesus. I also break any ungodly lies between _________________ (name the person)  and I.

I hand _________________ (name the person)  and the pain over to You, Jesus. I choose to bless him/her, instead. (Bless this person by praying out specific blessings you desire to see this person experience, things they need to survive and thrive in this world and grow in their relationship with God)

Thank You for receiving my forgiveness and thank You that You are releasing something beautiful to replace the hurt and the pain, both in my life and and in this person’s life.

Jesus, what good gifts do You have for me in exchange? (Take time to hear what God is saying to you and share it and/or journal it).

Prayer of Forgiveness Towards My Perpetrator

Father God, You know what __________ did to me, the pain the event has caused me, and the very real consequences it has caused in my life.  I choose to forgive __________ this real debt that he/she owed me. I also choose to forgive myself for believing the lies which the enemy brought in at this time.

As I give You this debt, I am transferring all ownership of it to You! I am giving up all rights associated with the pain, shame, blame, guilt, grief and sorrow associated with the acts, memories and emotions of this event.  If any thoughts, memories, or emotions come back to torment me concerning this debt, I will send them to You immediately as the rightful owner of this debt.

Father God, as I give You this debt, do You have something for me in exchange?
