Prayer For The Healing of The Will (for males only)
Part 1
PARTICIPANT (repeat after me): I pray, Lord, for the release and strengthening of my will, that creative, masculine part of me, that with which I initiate change, choose life, and with which I forsake the bent and idolatrous position of attempting to find my identity in the creature.
Show me any way in which I am bent toward the creature; O Lord, reveal any idolatrous or neurotic dependency on persons or things, show me any way in which I demand from the created the identity I can gain only from You, my Creator.
Part 2
LEADER: With the eyes of your heart, visualize any bentness the Lord is showing you. Take note of any images or senses of bentness you saw toward mother or father, husband or wife, son or daughter, someone of the same sex or other sex, or any way in which you have made an idol of job, money, fame, and self (narcissism). [give participant time to listen, see and sense]
LEADER: Anything you wanna share from any sense you got of your own bentness? [give participant time to share]
Part 3
Proceed to this step if participant is willing and ready to confess, repent and renounce any bentness in their life.PARTICIPANT (repeat after me): I choose, Lord to forsake this bentness, I confess it to You, just now, as the sin that it is. [Participant shares what He saw/sensed that he is ready to confess and renounce] _________________________ . I renounce it in Your name, and I thank You for Your forgiveness. I receive Your forgiveness.
LEADER: To you who truly repent, I proclaim you forgiven in Christ name. Receive this forgiveness now.
Part 4
PARTICIPANT (repeat after me): Descend into me, divine, masculine, eternal Will. Descend into me, radiate up through me. Lord, command what You will, then will what You command.
I thank You, Lord, that my weak and insufficient will is now one with Yours. May I know more and more what it means to be in-willed, in-godded by You. Thank You, Lord, that Your completing, healing work is commenced in me, and will continue in this world and in the next.
Part 5
LEADER: I encourage you right now to journal any images or senses of bentness you saw toward mother or father, husband or wife, son or daughter, someone of the same sex or other sex, or any way in which you have made an idol of job, money, fame, and self (narcissism). Then I encourage you to converse with God about them. He will give you understanding of them over time, and enable you to begin to get at the roots of the idolatries or dependencies that have held you back from full freedom in Him.
So again, I am asking you to journal them down and then talk to God about them in prayer now and over the week. And then trust He will give you the understanding and the enablement needed to fully root them out, in His timing.
Background Knowledge and Fundational Understanding
Adam and Eve of our world willed to know evil experientially (the knowledge of good and evil). They listened to the voice of the tempter, obeyed that voice, and fell from God-consciousness into self-consciousness. Their human spirits, then darkened, fell into the black labyrinth of their now enlightened souls—there to listen (practice the presence) of all the other voices. Out of relationship to God, they were now disrelated.
As those who are fallen, this is where we find ourselves: disrelated—assailed by other voices... Adam and Eve hid. So we all do, all who've listened to and obeyed the other voices. Here is the self-separation: autonomous, denying the Presence, wanting to be God...
Worship is at the base of all Satan's temptations. He fell from the Presence, descended into the hell of his self. He desires worship. He says in effect, "Practice my presence, I will make you great, I will make you a god."
If we do not practice the Presence of God, we will practice the presence of another. If we do not listen for the Word, we will be in subjection to the words of the world, the flesh and the Devil.
When we make our will one with God's, we find that integration of personality begins to take place. That is becasuse, as we make our will one with His, we free Him to gather up those valid parts of ourselves from which we are alienated, estranged. He then affirms and blesses them in us.
