Discovery Prayer is a simple way to pray directly from the Bible. Instead of coming up with your own words, you let God’s Word guide your prayer—helping you talk with God, not just at Him. It’s called Discovery because you are discovering:
Who God is
What He cares about
What He wants to do in you and others
Then you turn that into a real conversation with Jesus.
Stay rooted in God’s truth (not just feelings)
Hear God’s heart more clearly
Learn to pray Scripture
Grow in a real relationship with Jesus
Make prayer simple and reproducible for anyone
Move from just talking to listening and responding
After reading the chosen Bible verse or passage, pray through these three steps:
THANK — Thank God for who He is in this passage
“God, thank You that You are…”
DECLARE — Speak truth from the passage
“Your Word says…”
“We are called to…”
ASK — Ask God to do this in you and others
“Help me…”
“Would You make us…”
Read the chosen verse/passage out loud
Pray something like this: “Father, as I read this, show me who You are and what You want. Help me hear You.”
Go step by step: Thank → Declare → Ask
Each person shares short prayers
Pause briefly to listen to the Holy Spirit
Keep it simple—no pressure, no long prayers
