I share these personal dreams and their interpretations not as formulas for dream interpretation, but as windows into the mysterious ways God speaks and forms us. By following actual dreams — from the dream itself, through interpretation, reflection, and sometimes months or years of unfolding meaning — I hope to offer practical insight into how we can learn to discern what God may be communicating through our own dreams.
Dreams seem to work differently from Scripture, visions, or impressions. Sometimes their meaning is immediately clear; other times they plant something within us that we only begin to understand later... much later. Yet even before we fully understand them, God may already be using them to awaken, prepare, redirect, or form us. As Job says,
For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings. He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride. He protects them from the grave, from crossing over the river of death. — Job 33:14-18 NLT
Dreams can be part of that mysterious but intentional work of God — a seed planted in the night whose fruit may emerge over time.
Ultimately, our confidence is not in our ability to perfectly interpret every dream, but in the God who continues His work in us: “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6)
