To Pray-Read the Word means you don’t read the Bible only for information—you turn what you read into a conversation with God.
You slow down, meditate, talk to Him about what you see, and write down what you sense He is showing you. Instead of staying in “study mode,” Pray-Reading moves you into dialogue mode—talking with Jesus (the Word made flesh) through His written Word. The Bible becomes the material for your prayer life.

Let’s use this verse as an example: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 (NIV)  As you read any passage, look for two main things:

1. PROMISES to BELIEVE (Use: Thank You… & Show Me More…)

These are truths about who God is, what He’s like, and what He does.

Thank You…  —Express gratitude and trust for what God has revealed.

• Example: “Thank You, Lord, that You promise to supply all my needs.”

Show Me More… — Ask for insight, deeper understanding, and personal application.

• Example: “Jesus, help me really trust You to meet my needs. Show me how You’ve been faithful before. Show me how to align my thoughts and actions with this truth.”

2. COMMANDS to OBEY (Use: I Commit… & Help Me / Empower Me…)

These are instructions, invitations, or exhortations God gives us to live out.

I Commit… — Choose one specific obedience step you want to take.

• Example: “I commit to rejoice, pray, and give thanks in every circumstance, even when I don’t feel like it.”

Help Me / Empower Me… — Ask God for the strength, desire, wisdom, and power to obey.

• Example: “Lord, empower me to rejoice in all situations. Give me eyes to see things as You see them. Help me pray continuously and give thanks trusting that You are in control.”

BIBLE PASSAGE: " Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble His way.  All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep His covenant and his testimonies." - Psalm 25:8-10 ESV

PRAY-READ Example > 

1. • • Thank You — I thank You that You are good and upright. You lead me with patience and kindness. You are my Teacher and Shepherd, faithfully guiding me even when I wander. 

     • Show Me More — Show me more of how You are leading me right now. Help me see Your faithfulness, wisdom, and care in the details of my life. 

     • I Commit — I commit to follow Your ways and receive Your correction so I stay on Your path of love and faithfulness. 

     • Empower Me — Empower me to seek Your ways above my own. Heal the places in me that want to rely on my broken patterns. Strengthen me to fully embrace Your path.
