• lovers of self > self-absorbed, narcissistic, self-focused, self-centered lovers of themselves

• lovers of money > obsessed with money, money-hungry, impelled by greed

• proud > self-promoting, boastful, vain, they will boast of great things 

• arrogant > stuck-up, self-important, haughty, arrogant pride

• abusive > mock all that is right, reviler,  insulting, offensive, belittling, vicious, mocks all that is right

• disobedient to their parents > contemptuous of parents, ignore their families

• ungrateful > entitled, dissatisfied, indifferent, demanding (always not good enough)

• unholy > ungodly, they will consider nothing sacred, profane

• heartless > unloving, devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane

• unappeasable > unforgiving, irreconcilable

• slanderous > addicted to hateful and malicious slander, malicious gossips

• without self-control > slaves to their desires, out of control, intemperate, immoral

• brutal > savage, cruel, ferocious, wild, bloodthirsty

• not loving good > belligerent haters of what is good and right

• treacherous > they will betray their friends, traitors

• reckless > they will act without restraint, do foolish things without thinking

• swollen with conceit > puffed up with pride, will think they are better than others, bigots

• lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God > addicted to lust, and allergic to God, lovers of sensual pleasure rather than lovers of God, those who delight in the pleasures of the world than in the pleasure of knowing God

• having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power > They will act religious (holding to a form of outward godliness), but they will reject the power that could make them godly (their conduct nullifies their claim of faith), they may pretend to respect God but who in reality they want nothing to do with God's power

• men who creep into households and capture weak women (women who are burdened with sins and are led astray by various passions, and who are always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth) > These are the kind of men who smooth-talk themselves into the homes of unstable, morally weak, needy women and take advantage of them; women who, depressed by their sinfulness and easily swayed by various impulses and desires they have, take up with every new religious fad that calls itself "truth"  (women ready to believe anything).  They are always learning and listening to anybody who will teach them, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. They get exploited every time and never really learn.

• oppose the truth > have a counterfeit faith; stand against the truth of God

• have a corrupted in mind > they have depraved minds;  twisted in their thinking

• are disqualified regarding the faith > rejects from the faith, unqualified and worthless as teachers in regard to the faith

• But will not get very far for their folly will be plain to all > but they will not advance, for everyone will see their madness (as the fools and impostors they are); their meaningless nonsense and ignorance will become obvious to everyone
