God told Abraham, “I will bless you… and you will be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). This pattern continues for God’s people today. In Christ, we have received grace, love, forgiveness, and access to the Father—not only for ourselves, but so that His blessing can flow through us to others.
Blessed to Be a Blessing is a simple, memorable, and reproducible outreach tool that anyone can use in everyday life. It encourages us as believers to live attentively—seeing with our natural eyes, listening with our hearts, and being aware with our spiritual eyes of what God may be showing us about the people around us. It works in three simple steps: I SEE. I PRAY. I DO.
I SEE the need → I PRAY for God’s help → I DO what I can in love.
I pay attention to people around me. I notice when someone is discouraged, stressed, sick, struggling, lonely, confused, or in need. Sometimes people tell us their needs. Other times we simply notice with compassion and awareness.
Sometimes we also “see” because God brings someone to our mind or places a burden on our heart. He may show us through a thought, an intuition, a feeling, or through the Holy Spirit that someone needs prayer, encouragement, or help. This can happen even with people who are not near us—sometimes in other cities, states, or even countries. In this way, we see not only with our eyes, but also with the "eyes of our hearts" (through the Spirit).
We live with open eyes and a listening heart.
When I see a need, I bring that person before God. I ask God to:
Help them
Encourage them
Provide for them
Heal them
Give them wisdom
Reveal His love to them
I pray silently for what I have seen.
We live with a prayerful heart.
If there is something I can do, I do it. This may look like:
Encouraging words
Listening
Helping with a task
Giving something they need
Checking in later
Introducing them to someone who can help
Praying with them
Continuing to pray for them over time
Not every situation requires a big action. Sometimes love looks small, but small acts done in love are powerful.
We live with ready hands.
You notice a coworker who seems overwhelmed and discouraged.
I SEE → You notice they are not themselves and seem burdened.
I PRAY → You quietly ask God, “Father, please help them, encourage them, and give them strength today.”
I DO → Later you tell them, “Hey, I just wanted to say I appreciate you. You work really hard.”
A week later you check in again and ask how they are doing.
You became a blessing in a simple but real way.
Many people want to help others but don’t know where to start. This tool makes outreach simple and natural. You don’t need a program. You don’t need a microphone. You don’t need a title. You just need to...
